Summary: 007 Legends is a first-person shooter based on the James Bond franchise, released in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the movie series. Therefore its six chapters (each consisting of several mission) are based on six movies from all eras: Goldfinger (1964, starring Sean Connery), On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969, starring George Lazenby), Moonraker (1979, starring Roger Moore), License to Kill (1989, starring Timothy Dalton), Die Another Day (2002, starring Pierce Brosnan) and Skyfall (2012, starring Daniel Craig).

Skyfall serves as frame story: Bond is hit by a sniper and thinks back to previous missions in flashbacks. Therefore all chapters are independent, are set in present time and star the Craig incarnation as protagonist. The basic gameplay premise is similar to other shooters at the time: linear levels with a lot of enemies to shoot along with a cover system. The game also features a basic stealth system (Bond can sneak and take out enemies from behind, but not move their bodies, gadgets to distract or tranquilize enemies) which is not mandatory for the majority of the missions. Of course there are also the usual sequences to ensure variety like rail-shooter missions, driving sections, quick-time events or fistfights with bosses. Gadgets include the smartphone which is used as hacking device (mini-game). Players can choose between automatic healing or the classic mechanic of collecting items to replenish health and armor.

Killing enemies, solving bonus objectives and special achievements like a good hit ratio nets experience points which can be reinvested in equipment (e.g. more ammo capacity) or personal (e.g. faster automatic healing) upgrades. In the challenge mode, players revisit the campaign's levels with special assignments (e.g. assault or stealth objectives).

Summary: The Amazing Spider-Man is an action-adventure video game, based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, and the 2012 film. It was published by Activision and developed by Beenox. It was released June 26 in North America and June 29, 2012 in Europe, on Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Android, iOS, and Microsoft Windows. A version for the Wii U was released March 5, 2013 in North America and March 8, 2013 in Europe as The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition in both regions. in Spring 2013, A PlayStation Vita version was released November 2013. The game was directed by Gerard Lehiany and written by Seamus Kevin Fahey, Benjamin Schirtz and Gérard Lehiany. The game serves as an alternate epilogue to The Amazing Spider-Man film, which is later seen in the sequel game revealed to be an alternate version of the movie. The Nintendo 3DS and Wii version feature a different, more linear game with the same script and plot. The game is not open world, instead following a style of approach similar to that of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, where the player selects a level from a hub, in this case Stan's apartment, before playing a mostly linear level. It was natively designed for the 3DS, and later ported to the Wii. Beenox also developed this version.

Summary: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an action game released as a tie-in with the movie of the same name. It takes place outside the events of the film with a separate storyline where Spider-Man discovers a larger threat to NYC that has turned the underworld upside down, weaving together villains from the film and classic Marvel characters. The game opens with Spider-Man tracking down his uncle Ben's killer in order to bring him to justice. However, he soon finds that there is much more going on in the city of Manhattan and finds himself in a tangled web between Oscorp, Wilson Fisk and a mysterious new serial killer.

Players control Spider-Man in an open-world version of Manhattan similar to the previous games in the franchise. He can swing freely throughout the city using a web-swinging mechanic. The swinging has become more strict in the sense that it is no longer possible to always swing about anywhere if there is nothing present to attach it to, even though there are exceptions. The web is controlled with Spider-Man's left and right hand with two separate buttons. Pressing them together gives a boost. There are different types of web available, for instance used to freeze something or to make it explode. Different enemies need to be taken out with combat techniques and various upgrades can be earned throughout the game.

Similar to the inFAMOUS series there is a morale system where the player can choose to have Spider-Man intervene to stop crime or to ignore it. The existing crimes have been expanded with new types such as arson and hostage situations. Other types of activities include photo investigations, task force, aiding the police in a deadlock, rescue situations and infiltrating hideouts. Through the open-world design there are often multiple approaches, including stealth. There are also sections where Peter Park is controlled, doing detective work on foot. Peter's home acts as the main hub to replay missions, equip costumes and purchase upgrades. The in-game map is accessed through a mobile phone. It is also used to receive messages and access upgrades.

Summary: Angry Birds: Star Wars is a Star Wars themed edition of the Angry Birds series. The gameplay mechanics are the same as with other Angry Birds games, where the goal in each of the levels is to take out all of the pigs with the allocated amount and types of Angry Birds. The space and gravity mechanics from Angry Birds: Space are also implemented.

For this edition the birds have been given a Star Wars character makeover: Red Bird is Luke Skywalker, Yellow Bird is Han Solo, Pink Bird is Princess Leia, Big Red Bird takes the role of Chewbacca, Black Bird becomes Obi Wan Kenobi and Blue Bird is a rebel pilot. In addition to the cosmetic changes, the birds also get specific abilities based on what character they are: Red Bird gets a lightsaber, Yellow Bird gets a blaster etc. The Pigs are cast into the roles of the various bad guys of the Star Wars films such as Jawas, Stormtroopers and Darth Vader.

As with the characters, each level is based on parts of the original Star Wars trilogy, appearing in the order that they do in the film. Each level gets introduced with a Angry Birds-style introduction.

Through a series of events Edward assumes the identity of a rogue member of the Assassins reporting to Laureano Torres, the Governor of Cuba and also the Grand Master of the Templars. Initially motivated by greed, Edward finds himself at odds with both the Templars and the Assassins, who are both pursuing a mysterious man known as the Sage in order to gain access to the secret technology of the First Civilization.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is the sixth major installment in the series. While it introduces a new historical protagonist, its modern-day story continues the overarching plot, particularly the arc that started in Assassin's Creed III. Most of the familiar elements from the previous installments return, including free-form movement, the possibility to climb on buildings, a mission-based system with main and secondary quests, weapon management, collecting, etc. Besides a few tweaks, combat system largely remains unchanged as well.

The game's world is larger than in any of the previous games, and is available for exploration in a seamless fashion, without transitions or loading between ship navigation, swimming, and exploring the land. Much of the Caribbean Sea can be physically explored, including three full-fledged cities (Havana, Kingston, and Nassau) as well as smaller settlements and uninhabited islands. The protagonist can now hunt animals, fish, and uncover treasure maps. Early in the game Edward gains access to the Jackdaw, a ship that can be outfitted, upgraded, and used in naval battles. It is also possible to recruit crew members for the ship.

Summary: Brunswick Pro Bowling is a bowling simulation game. In Career mode, after creating an avatar, players compete against the computer to work their way up from amateur to professional. The player character will increase in skill (e.g. strength, accuracy) and earn money while playing. This money can be used to buy clothing or a new bowling ball, which also affects skill. Quick Play mode, as the name suggests, allows for a quick round of bowling for one to four players.

Making a throw is a little bit different depending on the platform the game is played on. Lining up on the alley to decide the direction of the ball stays the same, but on PlayStation 2 and PSP it's also necessary to set its spin. The next step is rolling the ball. On the Wii this is done by swinging the Wiimote and releasing the trigger button, where the speed of the release determines the spin of the ball. In the other versions a sickle-shaped meter is shown; pulling down on the analog stick sets the accuracy, and pushing it forward the strength of the release.

Black Ops II is the ninth game in the Call of Duty franchise of video games and a sequel to the 2010 game Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game was launched at 16,000 stores worldwide at midnight on November 13, 2012. Black Ops II is the first game in the Call of Duty franchise to feature future warfare technology and the first to present branching storylines driven by player choice as well as selecting weapons before starting story mode missions. It also offers a 3D display option. A corresponding game, Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified, was released simultaneously on the PlayStation Vita. Within 24 hours of going on sale, the game grossed over $500 million. Summary: Ghosts takes place in an alternate timeline, and centres on a conflict between the United States and The Federation, a coalition of southern american countries. The two factions have been at war for ten years, and entire cities have been destroyed. As with previous Call of Duty games, the player takes control of a number of characters from different points of view from the conflict, but the story is told largely from the point of view of a US 'Ghost' team, a special forces team specialising in the clandestine and the covert as they track down a former Ghost that has been captured and brainwashed by the Federation.

As with all titles in the series Call of Duty: Ghosts has a large multiplayer portion. Standard CoD modes such as free for all and Team deathmatch make an appearance, along with Ground War, which rotates between Domination and Team Deathmatch and Blitz, which is similar to capture the flag, but instead of having flags, players must get to portals located at the enemy spawn point in order to score.

Summary: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a remastered version of the 2010 game Darksiders, similar to Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition as a new version of Darksiders II. For PlayStation 4, Wii U and Xbox One this is the first release of the game for the platform. For PC this is an updated release.

The gameplay itself is identical. This version has native 1080p rendering (console versions) and 4K support and additional video options (PC). The game runs in 60 FPS except for the Wii U version with 30 FPS. Visually there are doubled texture resolutions, improved and reworked rendering, better shadow rendering quality and new post-processing effects.

Summary: Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is the sequel to Disney Epic Mickey. Just like the first game it is a platformer and the story picks up after the events of the first game. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and the other characters from the Wasteland start rebuilding their world, when it is threatened by a series of earthquake. The Mad Doctor (always speaking in song) and Oswald team up, and Mickey Mouse, the protagonist of the original game, is brought back in the Wasteland world by Gus, the leader of the Gremlins, and Ortensia, Oswald's girlfriend.

In contrast to the first game, here Oswald and the Mad Doctor are on Mickey's side. Even more, Oswald becomes a support character for Mickey, as referenced in the title. He is either controlled by the computer or entirely by a different player. The game also supports a drop-in, drop-out system for the second player. As in the first game Mickey's most important way to interact with the environment is through paint and thinner with a reticule controlled separately. Thinner is used to rub out pieces in the environment, while paint can restore parts of the scenery. Paint can also be used to befriend or attack characters. Oswald attacks with a boomerang (using his arms) for ranged combat. He also has a remote control used to zap enemies or to charge items in the environments, and can take off his legs. In addition he can spin his ears to hover in the air and lift Mickey over gaps. He can also revive Mickey and be brought back close again with a group button. In many sequences the two need to work together to solve puzzles. For instance Mickey can drag fireworks to a specific spot and then have Oswald ignite it.

There are many different environments, such as a Western gulch, a spooky bog and the 1950s-style Autotopia. Next to the movement-based controls for the Wii and Wii U, the PlayStation Move peripheral is supported, but not Kinect for the 360 version. For the Wii U version the GamePad can display the map with hotkeys to zoom in or see the location of objectives. Off-TV play is not supported, as it uses regular split-screen for local co-op.

Giana and her sister Maria were in bed when a warp gate appeared, in which Maria disappeared. Before the gate closes, Giana jumps through it to rescue her sister. There, she finds herself in a dream world full of foes.

In this side-scroller 2.5d platformer Giana can swim, jump, kill enemies by jumping on their heads or 'twist' the dream, and collect gems to unlock next the levels. When Giana twists, the entire dream world is transformed, changing everything in the surroundings right away and it can be performed at any moment in any level. In the Nightmare world, Cute Giana is peaceful, mocking the nightmare which once frightened her when she was a child, and with peaceful music in the background. Cute Giana can twirl, spin in the air, and fall very slowly. In the fairy dream world Punk Giana is upset and the soundtrack is turned into metal music arrangements. Punk Giana can bash, reach high passages, destroy weak obstacles and kill enemies. Some obstacles are only present in one world, or moving platforms change their direction when Giana twists. At the end of each world there is a boss to beat: Giana has to avoid its attacks and find a way to hit it three times.

There is no life counter. After dying Giana respawns at the last checkpoint. At the end of the level the performance is rated with one to five stars, depending on the percentage of collected gems, number of respawns etc. Stars are used to unlock boss levels and hardcore modes. In the Hardcore mode there are no checkpoints. When dead, the entire level needs to be restarted. In the Über-hardcore mode Giana has only one life. If she dies, the game starts back at the first level.

Activision wanted to bring back Guitar Hero for the next generation of video game consoles but wanted the new game to be innovative. FreeStyleGames was given a free rein to revitalize the series by Activision, which led to the development of a new guitar controller featuring a 6 button, 3-fret layout in contrast to the 5 button controller of previous games. FreeStyleGames also wanted to bring a more immersive experience to the player, and developed the main career mode GH Live to have the note pattern displayed atop full motion video taken from the perspective of a lead guitarist during a concert, with the crowd and other band members dynamically reacting to the player's performance. FreeStyleGames also wanted to forgo the traditional downloadable content model to provide new songs for the game, and created the GHTV mode which encompasses curated playlists in the style of music television channels that are streamed around the clock, allowing them to easily acquire and add new songs. Within GHTV, songs are presented with the note track overlaid atop their music video or from live concert footage. GHTV allows players to pick up and play currently-streamed songs at any time or use money and in-game credits to play any song within the library, forgoing traditional downloadable content. The game was shipped with forty-two songs on disc and 200 songs within the GHTV library; New content has been added to GHTV on a weekly basis, provided through premium shows that earn players unique rewards. Guitar Hero Live was released to generally positive reception, with critics praising the new controller design for providing trickier and more realistic gameplay in comparison to previous Guitar Hero games, as well as the wider variety of content available via the GHTV mode. The main Live portion of the game received mixed reviews, with critics panning its weak soundtrack, lack of multiplayer, and describing the live action footage as being self-aware, exaggerated, and "campy". Summary: Hyrule Warriors is a hack and slash action game set in The Legend of Zelda universe with gameplay very similar to Tecmo Koei Games' Dynasty Warriors series where characters fight in battles against hundreds of enemies at once. The game is set in the Zelda world of Hyrule and you start with Link as a Hylian soldier trainee. The world's evil presence Ganondorf was once defeated and his soul was split into four fragments that were hidden in different places. Even though Ganondorf was defeated he managed to influence the sorceress Cia to open portals in time where monsters are able to pass through. At the start of the game Hyrule castle is under attack and rookie Link manages to impress on the battlefield. In the confusion Zelda disappears and Hyrule castle is captured. Link investigates with Zelda's trustee Impa and is given the trademark green outfit, offered to the hero who can restore the balance of the Triforce.

In the main Legend mode Link travels through different environments linked together on a world map, fighting to meet the victory conditions. Other characters are gradually unlocked as well, so it possible to play as Impa, Sheik, Zeda, Lana, Darunia or Fi for instance. Fighting is based on fast combos, often attacking multiple enemies at once, while incoming attacks can be avoided through dodge rolls. It is possible to lock the camera onto a single enemy to keep it in view and then cycle between different ones. Defeating enemies adds to a global experience level used to level up. It also fills up a yellow attack gauge and when full a powerful attack can be unleashed, often damaging over 50 enemies at once. Picked up magic jars fill up a green magic gauge. When full focus spirit can be activated. It temporarily increases the attack power and speed, reduces knock back damage and provides bonuses when killing many enemies at once. By then consuming the magic gauge entirely a focus spirit attack is activated to knock down opponents and expose weak points.

Many large opponents have weak points. Once exposed a weak points gauge meter appears above an enemy and when it has filled up by attacking another powerful move can be performed. Items to collect during battles includes rupees, bonuses for magic, health and items, weapon fragments, vases to destroy for health, materials and temporary item power-ups from enemies. Multiple items can be collected and equipped, with the ability to cycle between them quickly. These are often found in treasure chests. One of the important items is the bomb used to deal damage and clear obstacles. The maps are generally very large with multiple areas to control. The main character almost never fights alone and has to keep track of different goals and objectives to move around quickly. These include capturing areas, defeating bosses and protecting certain characters. When the goals are ignored it is possible the defeat conditions are reached and the level is lost, even without dying. Goals can be tracked in the options menu and they can also through the mini-map in the top right corner. Green arrows appear in the level to help navigation and the fairy Proxi provides tips and suggestions.

Levels often contain multiple keeps that keep spawning endless reinforcements when under enemy control. By defeating enemies in such an area a keep meter can be reduced, causing a keep boss to appear. When defeated the keep is controlled, but it can be recaptured. Other levels have outposts with a similar mechanic. By defeating an outpost captain soldiers spawning for your side can be activated. Armies have a morale system, shown through colour, which can be improved when fighting alongside them. A specific event is the appearance of a gold Skulltula. There are one hundred in the game and they sometimes appear on the map in sections marked with a spider web before fleeing again. When defeated they provide a piece of an illustration. There are five full illustrations in total and these provide rewards such as perks and potions. After completing an area rupees are provided for the clear bonus, clear time and additional bonuses such as completed objectives.

Before starting a level a warrior can be chosen along with weapons of different types, and outfits. Rupees can be spent at the bazar. At the badge market for instance rupees and material can be used to craft attack, defense or assist badges with various enchantments. The training dojo is used to trade rupees for leveling characters quickly, and the apothecary provides temporary mixtures and restorative potions for empty bottles. Many skills and badges are tied to the character they are crafted with and these can be transferred afterwards at the smithy.

Next to the main Legend mode there is an Adventure mode with a map similar to the 8-bit Zelda games. By completing objectives new parts of the grid can be unlocked and there are segments where classic Zelda items are used. The third mode is the Free mode where players can experiment with all available characters freely. The final game mode is the Challenge mode where specific challenges need to be completed. New challenges are provided through updated at a regular basis. Many characters, enemies and environments are inspired by earlier Zelda games.

The game supports local cooperative multiplayer, either playing split-screen or with one player using the TV and the other one with an own screen on the GamePad. Off-TV play is also supported for single-player games. Certain achievements can be shared in the Miiverse.

There are over 100 characters to unlock, including 20 playable dinosaurs also with specific abilities. The short dinosaur sections allow the player to take the 'villain' side similar to the way it was done in LEGO Batman: The Videogame and there quick time event battles against other dinosaurs. Once again local cooperative games are possible with a second player able to join through a drop-in drop-out system (not for Vita). Mr. DNA often appears as a helper to explain what to do next.

As in some of the previous games it is possible to assemble new objects out of the bricks, but without the complexity of the way it was done in The LEGO Movie Video Game. The game introduces a weather system that affects the environment. As with previous titles some parts of the levels are locked off until the correct character or dinosaur is unlocked, often by reaching a certain level. The additional characters then introduce new abilities to progress or ways to find hidden items. As with previous games after completing levels they can be replayed in a free play mode with different characters and free exploration in large hub locations, with additional unlockables. The hub worlds change dynamically by completing story levels, introducing new locations. In the free play mode custom characters can be used, either unlocked by finding their character token or by reaching a certain levels and buying them in exchange for an amount of LEGO studs collected during gameplay as a currency. Similarly unlocked vehicles can be purchased and used as well.

The island hubs can be populated with dinosaurs by locating a piece of amber with a mosquito inside, hidden in each of the 20 story mode level. Both characters and dinosaurs can be customized, and for dinosaurs DNS strains can be mixed to create genetic hybrids. As with the previous titles red bricks can be collected. These can be sold at Holoscape terminal to unlock new abilities.

Summary: The Force Awakens is the fifth game in the LEGO Star Wars franchise. The story is primarily based on the 2015 movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but also includes additional content that introduces a storyline bridging the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. That way players get to relive the experiences from The Force Awakens, but also play with a new plot between the final events of the original trilogy and the sequels. Over 200 playable characters are available in this game, including Rey, Kylo Ren, Finn, Captain Phasma, Poe Dameron, BB-8, and many more. Each player has their unique abilities for completing the various puzzles you will encounter throughout the campaign, including new ways to incorporate droids and Jedis into these challenges. For example, some droids will manipulate the hardware for moving platforms to allow the other player to advance.

The levels also alter in theme, from areas relying heavily on the game's platform, puzzle-solving mechanics to large spaceship battles to cover-based shootouts during combat against stormtroopers. The hub world is a galaxy in which each planet is its own world with the chapters, as well as additional missions, some of which add to the storyline of the Star Wars universe, bridging the events between the original trilogy and the sequels, as previously mentioned.

New features include the backpack as an improved inventory, a new buddy mechanic (also improved from LEGO The Lord of the Rings) and new resource collection in the form of loot. Similar to The LEGO Movie Videogame players collect different LEGO pieces while destroying the environments which can then be used in building mini-games to progress in the story and solve puzzles.

Summary: The Avengers: Battle for Earth is a versus fighting game designed around motion controls. It is based on the 2008 Marvel comics storyline Secret Invasion, in which the Skrulls, shapeshifting aliens, have taken the place of many of the Marvel universe's superheroes, with the remaining genuine heroes having to team up to defeat the menace.

The game features five different arenas and 20 Marvel characters, both heroes and villains, from the world of the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man.

Game modes include a training mode which has sparring fights, general training which teaches basic attacks and moves, hero-specific training that focuses on a hero's unique special moves, and trial challenges, which set certain restrictions on how to win a fight. The game's main single-player mode is the campaign, which consists of 40 fights in total, with eight fights per arena. Playing through the campaign is necessary to unlock all 20 characters. In this mode, the player always controls the real heroes and fights Skrull doppelgangers. Between the fights, cutscenes consisting of panels from the original comics illustrate the storyline. Another single-player mode is arcade mode, which consists of ladder matches against all characters. Only the Xbox 360 version allows co-op play in the single player modes. Dedicated multiplayer modes on both consoles include two-player versus and a three-or four-player tournament mode which features elimination brackets.

Fights are best-of-three and always feature two-hero tag teams. Each character has two basic attacks (ranged and kick) and three unique super attacks. Stringing attacks into combos fills a power meter, that when half full can be used to launch a combo breaker, and when completely full allows the character to use their special ultra attack.

Controls differ between versions: the Xbox 360 version uses the Kinect sensor to track body movements. The simple attacks are triggered by punching the air or lifting the knee, while the super attacks require the player to perform a succession of different movements, with precision and power of the movement determining the power of the attack. The Kinect voice sensor is also used for occasional voice commands, like shouting "HULK SMASH" to unleash the Hulk's ultra attack. The Wii U version offers two different control schemes: via Wiimote and Nunchuk or via GamePad. The Wiimote/Nunchuk combination uses both motion and button presses, with the special attacks requiring complex movements. The GamePad uses simple taps for the basic attacks while the super attacks are launched by tracing patterns on the touchscreen.

Summary: Resident Evil: Revelations marks a return to the survival horror roots of the franchise from the action-centric gameplay of the previous title, Resident Evil 5.

The game takes place before part five in 2005, and after the total destruction of the ultra-modern sea-based city of Terragrigia by terrorists using old Umbrella-style B.O.W.s, or Bio-Organic Weapons. The primary focus of the story is on Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield as they hunt for answers on a mysterious luxury cruise ship known as the Queen Zenobia. The story is broken into chapters fitting for a portable title; story-wise, chapters alternate timelines. Jill Valentine works with her new partner Parker Luciani for the BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance). Alternate story segments may focus on Chris Redfield and his new partner Jessica Sherawat, or new BSAA members Keith and Quint. Each chapter is intended to gradually wrap together the full narrative.

Exploration in the game is done in third-person 3D, like in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, but with the action-heavy gameplay of those titles replaced by more traditional survival horror of the earlier games in the series. Players are once again exploring an ornate and luxurious environment similar to the mansion of the original game, carefully monitoring ammunition, approaching puzzles, and choosing when to fight and when to flee from an attack. The new mutations also appear in smaller numbers, and in claustrophobic areas.

While exploration of the Queen Zenobia is deeply rooted in the survival horror style, many alternating chapters are much more action-oriented and generally resemble the "shooting gallery" segments of Resident Evil 5. These segments may also include much more classic B.O.W. monsters, such as the infamous Hunters and variations of zombie dogs. Ammunition is much more plentiful, and exploration is downplayed.

New to the series is the Genesis device which allows players to scan their environments for hidden items, such as ammunition or hand-prints, or to scan enemies for "data." Each enemy scanned increases a few percentage points, and scanning to 100% grants the player a new herb. The inventory slot system of previous games is largely removed, and players are given general limitations instead--up to three weapons and five herbs may be carried at once, and weapon lockers allow players to store extra weapons and upgrades. Keys and special items no longer take up any kind of inventory space, and therefore do not need to be monitored.

A weapon upgrade system similar to that found in Mercenaries 3D is also present in the game. Any weapon upgrade may be applied to any weapon, or replaced with any other upgrade. Each weapon has a limit to the total number of upgrades, usually three or four. Upgrades run the gamut of increased firepower, increased fire rate, larger clip size, and special features such as allowing a weapon to fire two bullets with a single trigger pull.

Raid Mode is action-focused, having players face off against and kill waves of enemies. Essentially, it takes the place of the Mercenaries mode found in Resident Evil 4 and , and in the previously released 3DS Mercenaries 3D game. The biggest difference between the new Raid mode and the old Mercenaries mode is the removal of the intense emphasis on strict time limits. Players complete a stage by killing all the monsters and melee-striking an emblem at the end. This mode may be played solo, or cooperatively either in local wireless play or online. Players earn BP which works like experience or money to buy a variety of upgrades for use in Raid mode. BP earned is based on results in both the Raid mode and regular story mode, and when enough of it is earned, it also allows the player to level-up. This mode also utilizes Nintendo 3DS Play Coins for use purchasing some items.

The game is primarily played on the 3D screen of the Nintendo 3DS, and even includes an option to effectively double the depth of the 3D on the system. The touch-screen is used for inventory, item details, and the game's map. Primary and secondary weapons may be selected on the touch-screen, as well as the Genesis device. Weapon upgrades may also be applied or removed on the touch-screen. Some mini-games are also present in the game, such as unscrewing panels from electrical boxes and re-routing the current inside.

A special Mission mode exists that operates like an Achievement system in an Xbox 360 game. Completing the various missions unlocks the multi-player Raid mode and special items and circumstance for Raid mode. The Missions also utilize the Nintendo 3DS's Street Pass functionality, which may unlock other missions should the player's 3DS encounter another with different active Missions. Missions range from earning Achievements through in-game accomplishments to defeating certain enemies. Street Pass missions include defeating powerful foes in the Campaign, obtaining special Raid Mode-only items, and others.

Summary: Sniper Elite V2 is both a sequel to and a remake of Sniper Elite. It takes Karl Fairnburne, the protagonist of the first game, and offers a setting in the same period of the original title. The gameplay and levels are however entirely new, so it is only a remake in the sense that it re-envisions the character and the setting of the original game. Fairburne is an American agenst of the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) who is disguised as a German sniper and is inserted in the Battle of Berlin in 1945 during the final days of World War II. In the original game he was after intel about the German nuclear warfare program. In this game he needs to hunt down German V-2 rocket scientists.

This shooter is played from a first-person perspective and puts tactics and stealth before direct engagements. In many of the missions a location needs to be entered stealthily and movement patterns need to be observed before acting. It is possible to crawl and to throw rocks to distract guards, but there are also grenades. A threat indicator displays how exposed Fairburne is. If he is not careful an alarm is raised and that point the enemy threat becomes overwhelming, also because of the limited ammo. In many scenarios it is also required to backtrack and leave afterwards. A safe escape is assisted by placing trip mines, booby trapping a body, or dragging corpses out of sight. It is also possible to sneak around, seek cover, and emerge quickly. Nearby enemies can be taken out with a silenced pistol. In most of the situations, especially for kills over long distances, a sniper rifle is used. At that moment the camera switches to a scoped first-person view. The accuracy is influenced through the heart beat, the breathing that can be steadied, the force gravity and the distance, and general ballistics. The amount of realism for the ballistics can be toned down through a difficulty level. In some missions there are battles against enemy snipers and in those cases even their reticules shining in the the sun light can be used to reveal their position.

The different game modes include singleplayer, cooperative games, and competitive multiplayer. Cooperative games include Kill Tally where endless waves of enemies need to be killed in a race against the clock, Bombing Run where an area needs to be searched for parts to repair a broken vehicle before the location is bombed, Overwatch where a sniper cooperates with an operative to mark targets, and the entire main campaign that can also be played together with a friend.

Compared to the first game this title incorporates elements of contemporary shooters such as point rewards for actions and kills (similar to the Modern Warfare games) and a slow motion kill cam for long-distance hits with an anatomical cutaway X-ray view similar to the one used to show bone-crushing attacks in the 2011 Mortal Kombat. It shows precisely where the bullet enters the body and the damage it does to the organs. The player is encouraged to do difficult shots such as shooting an opponent through the eye. Other features include white figures that show were enemy soldiers were last seen and the ability to mark fighters for their position and additional target information. The mission environments are not entirely open but guide the player in a direction with an amount of freedom. Next to the main objectives hidden bottles and gold bars can be collected.

Summary: Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is a 3D action game and the start of a new Boom series in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Released together with the 3DS game Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, the games serve as a prequel to the 2014 Sonic Boom animated TV series. The title refers to a new villain called Lyric the Last Ancient. Sonic, Tails, Knuckled and Amy discover him in an ancient tomb while pursuing Eggman and being ambushed by Metal Sonic. Lyric was locked up a long time ago by fellow Ancients when it was discovered he planned to turn the world into metal and robots using Chaos Crystals. The group needs to defeat Lyric who reluctantly forms an alliance with Eggman.

The game combines different types of gameplay. There are a few linear high-speed running sections to collect rings, fight enemies and dodge obstacles. Most of the game is however played as a 3D fighting game and platformer where the characters can move freely in the environment. There are also sections that are played as a 2.5D game shown from a side view. The player gets to control all four characters together, but in turns. Characters that are not active are controlled by the AI and they all share the same pool of rings as a type of health meter. There are sections where the group is split up and teams of two work separately. Al four characters have different abilities and these are often used to solve environment based puzzles. There are many cut-scenes between sections and boss battles.

All characters have a similar set of basic moves with single attacks, combos, a charged attack and a mid-air stomp. They also use an electric weapon called the Enerbeam, taken from the tomb early on and converted by Tails. These beams act as a type of whip and can be used to remove energy shields, solve puzzles and hang from rails. Specific character abilities are a spin dash and homing attack for Sonic, Tails can hover in the air the longest and has access to gadgets, Knuckles can climb walls and move underground, and Amy can triple jump and uses a hammer to swing on poles. Many abilities need to be used in a collaborative way to solve puzzles.

After the initial part of the game most of the game is played in a hub world, similar to Sonic Adventure, with two large islands that can be explored freely. They provide access to different levels and the group can complete tasks for the locals. This is rewarded with power glyphs used to enhance the characters' abilities, but each character can only carry one glyph at a time. Levels contain many hidden trinkets to collect, also using a separate observation mode that shows the location, and materials can be gathered to upgrade parts of the world for the locals.

The game supports local cooperative multiplayer for the main story mode. One player uses the TV and the controller while the other one uses the Game Pad. Each player has its own set of rings. In areas where the group is split up, both players can tackle a different area simultaneously, switching to the other character of the group when needed. Team Challenges is a separate game mode for up to four players on a single screen in combat-focused mini-games.

Summary: Sonic: Lost World is a 3D action platformer in the Sonic the Hedgehog series and not identical to the 3DS version of the same name. In the introduction Sonic and Tails chase Doctor Eggman who has kidnapped critters to power his robot army. Tails' plane is shot down and they land in Lost Hex, a world in the clouds. There they discover Eggman has used a magic conch to control the Deadly Six, members of the Zeri race. Sonic manages to break the influence, but the Deadly Six then use one of Eggman's machines to drain the world below of its life force. This leads to an unlikely alliance between the duo and Eggman to defeat the Deadly Six.

The game's levels combine three types of gameplay. There are full 3D levels where Sonic progresses through spherical worlds similar to those in the Super Mario Galaxy series or the cancelled Sonic X-treme. In these Sonic needs to move forward, but can go entirely around the sphere along the way by moving left or right. The second type of levels are side-scrolling 2.5D environments with a fixed side view and regular camera turns to maintain the perspective in the 3D world. The final type of levels are 3D and on-rails. Sonic moves forward automatically and quick reflexes are needed to find a path and avoid obstacles. Classic gameplay elements include collecting rings, dodging obstacles, using launch pads to travel between areas and platform climbing. Especially in the full 3D levels the spherical design of levels is used to find a path to progress. Most enemies are defeated by jumping on top of them. There is a new kick attack mainly used against stronger enemies. During levels enemies can be freed by opening containers or defeating certain enemies.

The control system incorporates a mechanic to manage Sonic's speed. Regular directional controls guide Sonic around at a regular speed, used mostly for sections where he has to be careful. By holding a trigger however Sonic starts running and can perform quick parkour-like moves such as wall running and vaulting. Sonic has a dash, a spin attack, a homing attack to target enemies more easily and in succession and he is also able to double jump.

Some moves were previously featured in Sonic Colors. The same goes for Wisp powers, temporary power-ups provided through Wisp creatures when they are located in a level. These include Asteroid, Bomb, Drill, Eagle, Hover, Laser, Lighting, Quake, Rocket and Rhythm. Drill, Laser and Rocket were previously featured in Sonic Colors. Asteroid atomizes objects, Eagle sends Sonic flying and Rhythm provides a short section where Sonic can bounce along a path of notes. Red coins can be collected in levels to unlock bonus stages with a circus theme to free more animals. If they are all collected in the game, Sonic can transform into Super Sonic. There are also boss battles.

After completing a level it can be played in a Time Trial mode to reach a fast time. Cooperative gameplay is supported with a second local player who flies an RC vehicle that moves alongside Sonic. The second player then provides some assistance by collecting rings, dropping bombs or firing rockets. Owners of the 3DS version can collect items to have Tails build items and RC vehicles that can be used in the Wii U version. There is also a link to the Miiverse to influence the vehicles and swap items such as Wisps and shields. When these are used by other players they become more effective. There are competitive races as well, with one player using the Game Pad and the other a controller and the TV. Game modes are Speed Race, Expert Race and Ring Race. In the latter the player who collects most rings, wins.

The game endeavors to combine elements of its predecessors, including the action focus of Conviction and the stealth focus of the older games. Blacklist marks the return of the asymmetrical multiplayer mode Spies vs. Mercs, which was introduced in Pandora Tomorrow. It is the first title developed by Ubisoft Toronto, a studio founded by Ubisoft in 2009. The game was directed by Maxime Béland, who had worked on Conviction. To prepare for this game, Béland studied reviews and feature lists of the latter. Blacklist is the first Splinter Cell game starring Eric Johnson as Sam Fisher, since series veteran Michael Ironside was unable to perform motion capture for the game. The Toronto studio focused on the game's Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, and its later-announced Wii U version was developed by Ubisoft Shanghai. Summary: Watch_Dogs is an open-world game set in the city of Chicago, USA. It starts as Aiden Pearce, the main protagonist, and his associate, Damien Brenks, hack into the Merlaut Hotel. However, the job doesn’t go according to plan and someone orders a hit on Aiden. His car gets shot at while he is driving with his niece and nephew sitting in the back seat, resulting in his young niece’s death. The game takes place one year after those events, as Aiden searches for the people responsible for his loss.

In Watch_Dogs, a program called ctOS (Central Operating System) controls the infrastructure of Chicago; traffic lights, surveillance cameras, ATMs, bridges, cellphones, the L-Train, etc. It also stores information about each person who lives in the city and uses this data for crime prevention, among other things. In the game, players can use Aiden's cellphone to hack the city, acquire information about Chicago residents, order cars and play various mini-games known as "digital trips".

The game is also full of side missions such as fixer contracts, convoys, human trafficking investigations, privacy invasions, etc. Successfully completing these missions will grant players skill points to spend on their hacking skills, shooting skills or driving skills. As the game progresses, unlocking those skills can help a lot to escape the cops or give the player more options on how to handle certain missions.

Watch_Dogs also features some online modes such as online hacking, invasion, online tailing and online races.

Summary: In 2054, Earth is caught in the midst of a war between two alien factions. To escape the planet's destruction, humanity builds massive Ark Ships and flies off in search of new planets to colonize. The game follows an American ship, the White Whale, as its people settle on the planet Mira and establish both the city of New Los Angeles and the military organization BLADE. The player starts the game as a fully customizable human character, who is awakened from cryogenic sleep by a woman named Elma and recruited as BLADE's newest member. The two of them are joined by several other characters, human and alien alike, as they attempt to survive Mira's natural environments, learn more about the planet, and recover the Lifehold that houses the stasis pods of the majority of Earth's survivors. Along the way they encounter the Ganglion, one of the alien factions that destroyed Earth, who are discovered to hold a genocidal hatred toward humans and are planning to drive the survivors to extinction.

This game is an action RPG, and a spiritual sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles. The battle system is largely similar to the one in that game; battles are fought in real time, and players have access to both automatic attacks and stronger skills called Battle Arts. A mechanic called Soul Voice can grant effects such as healing or buffs when successfully activated, and a technique called Overdrive can provide even more powerful buffs for a limited time.

Mechs called Skells can be piloted and used for both exploration and combat, though they run on a limited fuel source and can be expensive to maintain. The planet Mira is an enormous open world, and Skells can be used to reach otherwise-inaccessible parts of it.

Online features allow players to join squads of up to 32 members. Upon starting a play session, the player may choose to be randomly assigned to a squad or join one with friends registered to their Wii U console. Squad members can work together to exterminate monsters and collect items in asynchronous group missions, as well as recruit computer-controlled versions of one another as temporary party members. Smaller groups of up to four may also take on a timed battle against a Global Nemesis if one is active; these bosses have extremely high amounts of HP, and it is up to the community to work together over several days to defeat them.
